Ce qui donnerai comme traduction "bien impérial" qui symbole très bien le passé de la ville de Reichshoffen,
très marqué par la domination de la bourgeoisie.
Le nom Richeneshoven, Richeshoff, Rishofen fait supposer certainement que l'endroit était un vieux bien impérial.
Cela est confirmé par les documents les plus âgés qui parlent de Reichshoffen,
l'empereur Otto III, dans l'année 994, (à l'abbaye de Seltz) mentionne une chapelle à Reichshoffen.
